On Thursday, December 4, 2008, 06:00 PM, at the S. P. Yates Scout Service Center (2603 North Aspen Avenue), Roswell, (one-hour before Roundtable) the Scout Executive, Guy Eichsteadt (my boss) will host a Fireside Chat. This is an opportunity to meet the Scout Executive, and for him to meet all of our leaders from the Rio Hondo District. Guy would also like to hear your ideas and suggestions for the coming year, and hear any concerns you may have about the program.
Following the Fireside, at 7:00 PM, we will have Roundtable at the S.P. Yates Scout Service Center in Roswell. (The Scout Store will also be open during that period.) Roundtable is a great opportunity for Scout leaders, parents and other interested members of the community to learn more about the Scouting program, receive training, share ideas & best practices, and enjoy some good snacks! Sounds nice. You might mention to those that are thinking about twilight camp in the Clovis / Portales area that Artesia has participated in Twilight Camp in Carlsbad for at least 6 years now. Our leaders have made a commitment to support this great outdoor opportunity for our boys and make the 45 minute drive to Dowling. We carpool as much as possible and coordinate with everyone. It really helps to have the free lunch program provide a hot supper for our group too.
